Wonder about things. Accept people as they are. Look and listen carefully. We all have feelings. Ask a lot of questions. Haircuts don’t hurt. Teach by example. Feed the fish. Share. Play. Love. Be yourself.
– Everything I ever needed to know, I learned from Mister Rogers.
This illustration was inspired by the work of Mister Rogers (Fred Rogers). I love Mister Rogers, I think he was one of the strongest and most powerful people of our time, and still continues to inspire and teach.
Just be kind and brave, that’s all you ever need to be.
Mister Rogers
In the Mister Rogers documentary titled “Won’t you be my neighbor?” there is a clip of a young Fred testifying before the Senate Subcommittee chairman, Senator John Pastore (D-RI), regarding funding for Public Television. Unfamiliar with Fred Rogers, Senator Patore is initially abrasive towards him. Over the course of Rogers’ 6 minutes of testimony, Pastore’s demeanor gradually transitions to one of awe and admiration as Fred Rogers speaks. Pastore simply melts. What I witnessed was Mister Rogers speaking from his heart, to the child’s heart of Senator Pastore. And they received the funding. It’s awe inspiring, and great reminder.

Mister Rogers was an educator, Peace Warrior, and a wonderful person of kindness. There are millions of kind and caring people in the world. You may not see them in the media very often – they are too busy doing their job of being brave, kind, and caring. Like Super Heroes without the costumes.
Thank you.
Love the illustration. I, too, believe that there are millions of kind and caring people in the world ❤

I heard somewhere that he got the inspiration for his life’s work while being a military sharpshooter. Heavy.

Hi Ana! That must have been another fellow. I just finished reading a biography of Fred Rogers, “Kindness and Wonder” by Gavin Edwards, and Fred did not serve in the Military. (Then double checked on two other sources.) – Thank you Ana!

Lovely picture and words. We didn’t have Mr.Rogers here, sadly.

I’m sorry he wasn’t there as well, he was so calming and I loved his field trips! Then I got to watch them with my kids…. I think he had a live 30 year run ❤️

Love is indeed the most gentle, the most caring, and the most powerful…because of the first two. That inner child hears it and knows its worth. A beautiful post dear lady, and shared well. It is a gift for us if we learn to find that child inside us again 😀❤️🙏🏽

I love your illustration and concluding paragraph. There are “Super Heroes” without costumes all around we need to be intentional, open our eyes and take note of them each day.

I absolutely agree with you, and have you noticed when you turn your attention towards the best of humanity… you begin to see it all around more and more each day?
Pretty amazing and heart warming. Thank you Manette!
