Illustration – Autumn Glee

This past week I had a little “down time” and jumped right into creating an illustration for the fall season. This work was created with colour pencil and wash.

I hope it’s apparent that the little mouse received his “wish” from someone raking leaves (the object on left is a leaf rake). I was speaking with a friend regarding the many conditions we tend to place on our hopes and dreams. If we pre-determine the “specifics, or when, or all of the details” of our dreams and exactly how they should show up – the runway for arrival may be a bit too narrow without space to land!

This illustrated story is a bit like that. The little mouse didn’t need to grow wings for the opportunity to fly, he just needed to smile and enjoy the ride!

When your wishes, dreams, or hearts desire does arrive, it may look a bit different but it will be at the perfect time, and in the perfect way, and better than you would have imagined. Trust. Here’s to opening up the landing field, and making space for your hearts desires.

  6. Very profound words Liza, many a wish I have launched not realizing what I already have is truly beyond it already. And always given what I need, not necessarily what I want.   7. Adorable and thoughtful too. I was recently walking by the ocean looking for something specific as reference for a painting …but I was presented with something completely different and equally wonderful. It was a lesson on being open to the gift that is actually there in the moment.
