In the last week of December I joined the Wendy MacNaughten “Grown Up Table.” This is a great online group (from no experience to professional experience!) that commits to a quick 10 minute sketch and upload each day following a lesson and prompt by Wendy. Her work is wonderful. On January 1st, the 30-day Challenge began and it has been exactly what I was looking for! As a full time artist in the corporate world, I also need to play, and what better way than in a group.
Here are some of my sketches from week two. Ten minutes is fast, but it also it helps me to release perfectionism, getting it right, and taking myself too seriously. This also ushers in joy, fun, refreshes my energy, and a great deal of laughter.
The challenge is still open to anyone at anytime, and afterwards is daily sketching. Wendy gathers the inspiring creative information for her classes, and I whole-hearted recommend this uplifting ten minutes a day with benefits that lasts all day!

Thank you Fraggle! Although I have a creative profession, there is also the stress management of “getting it perfect” for the client. There is no getting it right or masterpiece in just 10 minutes! Just fun and exploration, much like you did all last year! A bit of fun can really upgrade my perspective …😁❤️☮️

Thank you Cathy, it’s been refreshing and fun to break out and participate in exploring something different everyday. Best of all, is using a lot of those neglected art supplies in my closet!

My stickman drawings look as if they need an ambulance. Drawing may not be for me.

Oh no! Well that really made me laugh. Like anything else, sketching is simply practice, nothing special! … and observation. Best to you,
🙂❤️☮️🕊

These drawings are adorable! I so enjoyed them and reading about them. I love the children’s well-worn shoes, the shiny berry, the evergreen trees, and the frosted window panes . . . but they’re all lovely.

Thank you Willa! The choice of joining in, and following the prompts each day has been a terrific creative start for the new year and a lot of fun. Ten minutes each day of “play” has been a game changer and reminder to include joy in the project! Thank you for your note, 🙂❤️☮️
