Illustration – A Sketchbook Story, “Light at the Bottom of the Rabbit Hole”

Have you ever been working on a project and found yourself “at the bottom of a rabbit hole” and wondering how and why you got there? So does Meg in this short illustrated story.

Back Story: After creating an illustration about a rabbit hole, I found the idea still percolating in my mind. Each morning I try to create a fast sketch before going to work. Along the way, I realized a story was taking shape in my sketchbook, day by day. Here is the original illustration – and all of the fast sketches. And the story, just told itself. It was fun to experience and I hope you enjoy it.

P.S. I hope all of these images load, there are many …. and if not, woops, might take a minute!

    1. Thank you Ana, it’s quite an enlightening daily practice to question what we think… and why, and as always… quite freeing ❤️☮️🙂

  1. Ah kind lady, those doubts and fears in life. They twist and squirm and do find us in a rabbit hole…until we understand that it is us holding them.

A lovely story Liza, so many expectations, us and them. Until we understand us and let them go. For me, I just see the love in your art. How it holds much…be it faith, hope or belief…and speaks accordingly.

Great post and thank you for sharing your rabbit hole 😀❤️🙏

    1. Hi Catherine, I am so happy you felt this story had a great message!!❤️ I was hoping it did. At present, I am just baby-stepping into story telling, but would love to make a collection or simply explore it further, by creating a few more stories to share and see how they develop. Your comment has given me a great boost and hope! Thank you so much!

    2. I realize I’ve made a similar comment on another one of your stories. They seem like naturals to me as children’s books that parents also would identify with. Maybe they are children’s books for parents? 😊

I think you really have a gift with these and your illustrations!
I look forward to seeing more!

I think this a a wonderful idea and goal to work towards, to explore and create for, …books for both parents and children simultaneously 👍😁. My heartfelt gratitude and thanks to you Catherine. (Hopefully I can post a new one soon!)
      ☮️❤️🙂
